Current Availability of AdBlue®

As of January 1st 2018, There were approximately 8407 retail forecourts throughout the UK. Only 55% of these were offering AdBlue, this is expected to reach 100% by 2023. Currently, this equates to just over 4500 outlets serving AdBlue products.

At present the majority of these forecourts supply AdBlue in packaged format (cans, pouches, etc) and only a select few operate dispensers suitable for car filling. In both instances the products avaialble are taylored towards the exisiting HGV market.

Commercial pumps for refilling HGV’s are not suitable for passenger cars and many vans due to their higher refuelling speeds which are too fast for the narrower filling aperture on cars. Likewise the 10 litre cans (which are most commonly found in UK forecourts) are also designed for HGV use and these are not practical for passenger cars due to their weight (11kg) and time needed to hold in position to dispense (4-5 minutes).
